First, if you are in Kenya, Kenya’s number one mobile service provider Safaricom Kenya introduced Neon smartphones at affordable prices in a move to entice Kenyans into their very own mobile network. These phones are always single SIM smartphones where users are always obliged to use only the Safaricom line. Their smartphones are always locked to only one SIM card which is their own. Well, we understand it is business and as you and I both know, no one likes competition. Well, Safaricom has, besides Neon Ray, introduced some other Neon smartphones like the Neon Nova, Neon Storm, Neon Kicka, and VFD 320 smartphones. But ever since the introduction of Neon Ray, customers have been facing a whole load of issues associated with software issues. The most unfortunate thing is that the warrant doesn’t cover software issues and even when you take them back, you are sure of getting no help.

Today I am going to show you How to Flash Safaricom Neon Ray and Fix Boot mode/Stuck on Fastboot Issues. Mostly with this phone, the most common or if I may say “notorious” issues you will face with Safaricom Neon Ray smartphone is Boot loop issues, the phone may get stuck on “Fastboot” Mode or just hangs on the logo.   • Hard reset

How to Flash Safaricom Neon Ray Firmware File to solve Boot mode/Stuck on Fastboot Issues

Now, just like I said earlier on, there are two methods to fix the Boot mode or Fastboot problem on Safaricom Neon Ray smartphone. The first one involves performing a hard reset. If by doing that still the issue isn’t solved, then, this method is the one you are to use to fix your smartphone. For you to carry out this method there are a number of requirements you will need to have. They are as below:

Requirements:

  1. Windows computer/Laptop
  2. Safaricom Neon Ray firmware (Depending on which version is your phone)
  3. Research Download tool (I recommend R19)
  4. Technical mobile flashing skills.

Procedure on How to Flash Safaricom Neon Ray and Fix Boot mode/Stuck on Fastboot Issues

Step 1

The very first step on how to Flash Safaricom Neon Ray and Fix Boot mode/Stuck on Fastboot Issues is to first get the Safaricom Neon Ray firmware file. You should first consider which version is your Neon Ray smartphone. To verify which version it is, remove the back cover, remover the battery and check underneath the battery. Find and download the firmware file and unzip/extract it to a specific folder on your Windows PC. You should see the Pac. File included.

Step 2

Now, after you have downloaded your Safaricom Neon Ray firmware file, Download SPD Upgrade Tool R19 and extract it on your computer. You can try and use another different version but if you run into problems, switch to R19 which is the recommended version to flash this file on Safaricom Neon Ray. Open the extracted folder and run the Upgrade Download application as shown below.

Step 3

After launching Upgrade Download Tool or SPD Upgrade Download tool, it is now time to load the firmware file on the tool. Click on the first gear icon on the Dashboard.

Navigate to the folder where you extracted your Safaricom Neon Ray flash file and load the PAC file by clicking on the Pac. File and then the OPEN button as shown below.

Wait and be patient as the firmware gets loaded on your flash tool.

Step 4

After your firmware is loaded on the Upgrade Download tool, now it is time to start flashing the software on the phone. Click on the PLAY button on the dashboard. Switch off your Neon Ray, or simply remove the battery and place it back. Hold the boot keys that are both volume up and down buttons. Connect the phone to the computer using your USB data cable. After you hear the connection sound, flashing will begin immediately. Now release the buttons and put your phone on a stable surface far from interruptions. Let the file be flashed on your phone and don’t interrupt or disconnect the phone during the process. After all the partitions are flashed, you will see PASSED on the dashboard as shown below.

Step 5

After you see the last partition finished and the word PASSED under progress, now disconnect your phone from the computer. Since it is still in boot mode, open the back cover, remove the battery and place it back. Power on the phone, wait until it comes on, it might take some time but you will need to be patient. Complete the startup settings and your Safaricom Neon Ray smartphone will be flashed and fixed, ready to be used. That is the procedure on How to Flash Safaricom Neon Ray and Fix Boot mode/Stuck on Fastboot Issues.

Note:

For you to flash your phone, you need to have some technical skills in mobile phone flashing. If you are not, take your phone to a mobile phone repair technician. WARNING! Flashing your phone at your own risk! Flashing your phone might damage it of result in other software issues. If your phone is still under warrant, flashing it will void your warranty. But if you carry out this procedure well and follow the highlighted process, everything should be fine.
