You can use one or more batteries if you have them.
In the event you have more than one battery, connect them in parallel. The same voltage of 13.5 from the charge controller can charge all the battery connected in parallel. Same applies to two or more solar panels.
Connecting the AC Power Inverter
The inverter is the one responsible for converting the DC to AC. It can be connected to the battery or through the charge controller as well. Some charge controllers advice you connect it through the controller to avoid overcharging the battery. This ensures that power is only drawn from the battery if there is no sun.
