What it means to have a rooted smartphone

We’ve talked a lot about rooting android phones. Well, what does it mean to have a rooted device? We will in this publication discuss in detail. First, I think we should know what rooting is to the benefit of those who are meeting this technical term for the first time. Rooting as the word suggests, is the ability to gain root access to your phone’s system partition. Normally, this is not set to be allowed by the manufacturers. When you unbox that phone for the first time, it is usually a sleek piece of machine with technology incorporated within. As you touch it for the first time, you can’t just stop lusting to start using it. Your operating system is a system of files written in a coded language and stored on a ROM. ROM is Random Access memory which is the internal disk. It contains the Operating system and some storage space for your files. These files for your operating system control how your smartphone works and are so delicate that altering them could interfere with the phone’s operational behavior. The manufacturer usually sets restrictions so that you can’t access your system partition. In short, you are limited to strictly work with what you were given. But rooting a phone breaks this rule and enables you to do more with your phone and alter the phone for better performance. On Android smartphone, it is known as rooting. On IOS, it is known as jailbreaking. Rooting grants you a superuser access to your system partition which you couldn’t do without root.

Advantages and disadvantages of rooting or jailbreaking.

Rooting as I said earlier is getting superuser access to your phones system partition and having the ability to alter your phone’s performance. But these files are so delicate that if altered in an unprofessional way could end up damaging your phone. You shouldn’t try to root your phone if you don’t know what you are doing. The downside is that first, it voids your manufacturer’s warranty. Secondly, if not properly done, it might cause your phone to start misbehaving or it might make it to completely stop functioning. Yes. It might die. We call it bricking. Rooting or not, is a matter of technical know-how and just deciding if you want to do it or not. But it is just a simple thing to do. Let us look at the positive side. Rooting comes with more good than harm.It gives you the ability to turn your phone into what you want it to be. For instance, you can be able to remove system apps completely. You can make third-party apps system apps, You can increase your phone’s RAM, you can speed up your phone, you can customize your phone with themes to the ones you want, you can flash custom ROMs and get even more functionalities. There are many apps available for only rooted or jailbroken devices to give you even more of your phone.

Ways of rooting or jailbreaking smartphones

Rooting can be done by installing rooting apps like kingroot, kingoroot, and others. Rooting with this apps works well but might not work on every phone the same way. You can root also root with rooting software on a computer such as Vroot, or flash custom ROM with root.
